Well-beings restart plan

in-person care

As the curve continues to flatten in British Columbia, reducing the stress and impact on public health and safety, our provincial authorities have implemented a 3 phase restart plan. Phase 2 includes the re-integration of in clinic treatment provided by regulated healthcare professionals and we couldn’t be more excited to get back to the office.

On May 15th, 2020, British Columbia’s Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, released a letter to our province’s Regulated Health Professionals, including RMTs and Acupuncturists. This letter was complemented by profession specific guidance issued by BCCDC, WorkSafeBC, as well as our Governing Colleges and Associations.

We have thoroughly reviewed all of the new standards and protocols necessary to ensure a safe clinical environment for our patients and our team. After evaluating all aspects of day-to-day life at Well-Beings, we have mindfully designed a Restart Plan for our office and have confidently implemented some new procedures accordingly. We will continue to offer the convenience of tele-wellness sessions with Vajeh for patients whose health needs can be adequately addressed in such a way.

pre-screening

Pre-screening of all patients will take place 24 hours before each appointment. Anyone who is feeling unwell with any COVID-19 symptoms will be asked to reschedule. Your practitioner will contact you personally via phone call to conduct the pre-screening so that both you and your clinician can assess if you are fit for treatment. This call is extremely important and your session may be cancelled if we are unable to reach you.

*Patients who do not meet the pre-screening criteria will need to reschedule their appointment and are required to contact HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 for further assessment.

limit time in reception

Patients are asked to arrive just before their scheduled booking. We will be keeping the door to the office locked throughout the day to limit access. We ask that you take a moment to do a quick self-assessment questionnaire upon arrival to our office- you will find a handy sign adhered to our door that will walk you through a similar set of questions as discussed in your pre-screening interview the day before your appointment. Your practitioner will then open the door for you and escort you directly into our kitchenette so you can wash your hands before assessment and treatment. We recommend wearing a mask to the clinic (reusable cloth masks are great for helping to navigate these new Phase 2 norms) but we will also have single-use disposable masks available if desired. Your practitioner, who will be donning a mask throughout the entirety of your treatment, will then do a quick non-contact infrared temperature check and you will proceed into the treatment room to get started.

*Patients who do not meet the self-assessment questionnaire criteria or who present with a fever or any other COVID-19 related symptoms will need to reschedule their appointment and are required to contact HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 for further assessment.

staggered treatments

Vajeh and Ashley will be staggering their booking start times to control flow of traffic through the clinic and to ensure physical distancing by minimizing incidental contact in common areas. The system we have put in place should ensure that only one patient is arriving and/or leaving the practice at once. Patients should arrive to their appointments alone unless they are a minor accompanied by their parent/guardian, or infirm and requiring the help of a caregiver. We also encourage patients with greater vulnerability or compromised immunity to schedule their visits at the start of our shifts.

*In addition to staggered treatment times, we decided to stagger our return dates to the office as well to further limit contact in the early stages of Phase 2. Vajeh is starting to treat patients effective May 19th whereas Ashley will return to the office on June 1st.

payment/departure

Touch-less payment methods are preferred- keeping your credit card stored on file or pre-paying with an e-transfer are great options whenever possible. Cash payments will only be accepted when provided to practitioner in exact currency and within an envelope. In order to further reduce the amount of time patients spend in the clinic, and to further enhance safe physical distancing measures outside of the treatment setting, we will not be scheduling bookings in person following your treatment. For the time being, we will only be booking via:

Extra time

We have added extra time between treatments to allow for increased sanitization measures of the treatment rooms and high touch areas. This is in addition to the rigorous cleaning and sanitization schedule that we already adhere to (required by us of Vancouver Coastal Health Authority and the Centre for Disease Control) between sessions and at the start and end of each shift.

shortened days

We have decreased our hours of availability to limit the amount of patients flowing through our practice each day. This helps us to ensure a high standard of care with all of our new protocols in place. It also reduces the amount of traffic in the building and within the community as a whole. The situation we are in is constantly evolving, we will update you on expanded hours as they become available.

practitioners

Practitioners are required to self-monitor and assess their health on a daily basis. We will never come into the office to treat patients if we do not meet the pre-screening criteria and we will reschedule our appointments to the next available date. We will abide by the same standards set for patients and will check our temperature upon arrival to the clinic.
